Woloan Village

Woloan Village is a village well known as the center of the traditional Minahasan wooden stilt house industry in Tomohon, North Sulawesi. For many years, this village has been recognized as the home of local craftsmen who build unique and beautiful Minahasan wooden houses with high cultural value. One of the most distinctive features of Woloan stilt houses is their construction system, which allows them to be dismantled and reassembled.
These houses are made from selected quality wood using traditional carpentry techniques passed down through generations. Because of their flexible design, the houses can be moved to another location after being dismantled and then rebuilt without losing their structural strength. In addition to being famous throughout North Sulawesi, Woloan wooden houses have also been shipped to many regions across Indonesia and even overseas.
Visitors to the village can directly observe the house-building process, admire the intricate wooden carvings, and experience the richness of traditional Minahasan architecture. Woloan Village is an interesting destination to learn about local wisdom while witnessing how the community continues to preserve its traditions and craftsmanship to this day.
