Lembeh Island

Lembeh Island is an island located to the east of the city of Bitung in North Sulawesi Province. The island is separated from the mainland of Sulawesi by a narrow strait known as the Lembeh Strait. This area is world-famous as one of the best muck diving destinations, a type of diving focused on discovering unique marine creatures that live on volcanic sandy seabeds.
Lembeh Island is considered a paradise for divers and underwater photographers because of its extraordinary diversity of unique marine life. In the waters surrounding the island, visitors can find rare species such as pygmy seahorses, mimic octopuses, frogfish, colorful nudibranchs, as well as various types of tiny shrimp and crabs that are rarely seen elsewhere.
Due to its uniqueness, many divers from around the world come to Lembeh specifically for underwater macro photography.
