World Coconut Day 2026 in Manado: When North Sulawesi’s Coconut Takes the World Stage

World Coconut Day 2026 in Manado: When North Sulawesi’s Coconut Takes the World Stage

Manado, North Sulawesi, is once again attracting international attention by hosting World Coconut Day 2026, held from 7–10 October 2026 at Courtyard by Marriott Manado.

Organized by the International Coconut Community (ICC) in collaboration with the North Sulawesi Provincial Government, this international event brings together governments, researchers, academics, industry players, farmers, investors, buyers, and other stakeholders from around the world.

With the theme “Coconut in Times of Uncertainty: Securing Food, Energy, and Livelihoods,” World Coconut Day 2026 highlights the increasingly important role of coconut in addressing global challenges related to food security, renewable energy, and sustainable livelihoods.

Manado, the Land of Coconut

Known as “Bumi Nyiur Melambai”, or the “Land of Swaying Coconut Palms,” North Sulawesi has a strong connection with coconut cultivation and the coconut industry.

Hosting World Coconut Day in Manado is therefore more than simply organizing an international event. It is an opportunity to showcase the region’s coconut potential while introducing North Sulawesi’s culture, tourism, local products, and economic opportunities to the global community.

The 2026 event is expected to involve participants from 27 countries, with around 500 international conference participants, a capacity of up to 1,000 participants, and approximately 60 exhibition booths showcasing coconut-related products and innovations.

From Coconut to Global Opportunities

One of the important focuses of World Coconut Day 2026 is downstream processing and value creation.

Coconut is no longer viewed simply as an agricultural commodity. Every part of the coconut can be developed into products with higher economic value, ranging from food and beverages to coconut-based ingredients, renewable energy, cosmetics, handicrafts, and other innovative products.

This creates opportunities to strengthen the position of farmers and local communities while opening wider access to international markets.

A Meeting Point for Knowledge, Business, and Innovation

The event features an international conference, global exhibition, business meetings, capacity-building programs, and various discussions involving researchers, policymakers, academics, industry leaders, and development partners.

World Coconut Day 2026 therefore becomes an important platform for exchanging knowledge, developing partnerships, exploring investment opportunities, and encouraging innovation within the global coconut industry.

Coconut, Culture, and Tourism

The celebration also goes beyond business and agriculture.

A Choir Festival is part of the program, featuring the compulsory song “Coconut for The World.” This cultural event adds a unique artistic dimension while showcasing North Sulawesi’s cultural richness and strengthening the connection between coconut, local identity, arts, and tourism.

Manado as a Global Destination

Through World Coconut Day 2026, Manado is not only presented as a beautiful tourism destination but also as a meeting point for international collaboration, economic development, science, culture, and innovation.

For visitors, the event offers another reason to discover North Sulawesi—from the coconut landscapes and local culture to the beauty of Bunaken, Likupang, Lembeh, Tomohon, Tangkoko, and other destinations.
